Terms, privacy, and how we handle your files.

Last updated August 16, 2026 · Applies to every order placed on LAYERD.

Before you publish this: this page is a starting template, written to cover the situations a print-on-demand business like this commonly runs into. It is not legal advice, and it hasn't been reviewed by a lawyer. Have one look it over before you launch — especially for Queensland and Australian consumer protection rules, tax obligations, and any shipping restrictions that apply to what you're printing. Finalise the remaining bracketed service periods before launch.

Acceptance of terms

By uploading a file, requesting a quote, or placing an order through this site, you agree to these Terms of Service. If you don't agree, please don't use the site. LAYERD ("we", "us") operates this site from Queensland, Australia, and these terms are governed by the laws of Queensland, Australia.

We may update these terms as the business grows. If we make a material change, we'll post the new version here with an updated date. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the update.

02

Orders and quotes

Quotes are generated automatically based on the file you upload, the color you select, and current material/time costs. A quote is an estimate until you complete checkout and payment — at that point it becomes a confirmed order.

We reserve the right to decline or cancel any order, before or after payment, if:

  • the file fails to slice or print reliably (non-manifold geometry, broken mesh, etc.)
  • the file violates our IP policy or prohibited files policy
  • we're unable to verify a valid shipping address
  • the order falls outside the material or size limits listed at checkout

If we cancel an order after payment, we'll issue a full refund to the original payment method.

03

Files and intellectual property

You're responsible for making sure you have the right to have your file 3D printed. By uploading a file, you confirm that at least one of the following is true:

  • you created the design yourself,
  • the design is in the public domain or released under a license that permits printing for personal or commercial use (e.g. CC0, or a license that explicitly allows paid fabrication), or
  • you personally hold a license or right to have this specific design fabricated.

A note on MakerWorld and similar sites: many designs there are shared under "personal use" or "non-commercial" licenses, which may not cover paying a third party (us) to print and ship it to you. It's your responsibility to check the license on any file you send us, whether uploaded directly or linked from another site. We reserve the right to decline any file where the license is unclear or restrictive.

We don't claim ownership of anything you upload. We use your file only to produce your order, and retain it only as described in our Privacy Policy.

04

Prohibited files

We will not print, and reserve the right to refuse and delete without notice, any file that is or appears to be:

  • a firearm, firearm component, or other weapon covered by applicable law
  • infringing on someone else's copyright, trademark, or patent
  • intended to defraud, deceive, or impersonate (e.g. counterfeit goods, fake ID components)
  • otherwise illegal to manufacture, sell, or ship in Queensland, Australia, or the destination country

Where we're required to, we may report attempted orders for illegal items to the relevant authorities.

05

Liability

We print parts as designed in the file you provide — we don't engineer, inspect, or certify designs for structural, mechanical, or safety performance. If your part is meant to bear load, hold heat, contact food, or be used in any safety-relevant application, that assessment is on you (or the designer of the file).

To the fullest extent permitted by law, LAYERD is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from the use of a printed part. Our liability for any order is limited to the amount you paid for that order.

This section doesn't limit any liability that can't legally be limited in your jurisdiction (for example, liability for gross negligence in some places, or statutory consumer guarantees).

06

Shipping

We ship to the address you provide at checkout — double-check it before confirming, since incorrect addresses may delay or lose your order and reshipping may carry an additional cost. Risk of loss passes to the carrier once your order ships; if a package is lost or damaged in transit, contact us and we'll help file a claim with the carrier.

Turnaround depends on the duration of the print, plus an estimated three days for postage. This is an estimate rather than a guarantee; unusually large, complex, or high-volume orders and carrier delays may take longer, and we'll tell you if we expect a material delay.

07

Refunds and reprints

If your part arrives damaged, defective, or meaningfully different from what you ordered (wrong color, wrong scale, or a failed print), submit a claim within seven days of confirmed delivery and include clear photographic evidence. After reviewing the claim, we'll provide an appropriate remedy, such as a reprint or refund.

Because every order is made to your file, we don't offer refunds for change of mind. This policy doesn't exclude any rights or remedies that cannot be excluded under applicable law, including the Australian Consumer Law.
